Happy 30th, Parallel Program

The University of Delaware and Delaware Technical and Community College are celebrating the 30th year of the Parallel Program, an outreach partnership that has helped thousands of Delawareans get education.

During the month of October, there will be a series of activities in Georgetown to honor this successful partnership. All events are free and open to the public and begin at 7 p.m., in Room 529 of the William Carter Partnership Center (formerly the Higher Education Building), on Route 18 in Georgetown, unless otherwise noted.

Friday, Oct. 3-"Celebrating the Past/Forging the Future," an evening dedicated to the past, present and future of the Parallel Program featuring talks by Carol Hoffecker, Richards Professor of History at UD; State Sen. Robert Venables; former Parallel Program students; and UD Associate Dean Raymond Callahan. Refreshments will be served after the program.

Tuesday, Oct. 14-"Ancient Greek Theatre," a lecture by Steven Sidebotham, UD professor of history.

Monday, Oct. 20-"If You Lived Here, You Would Be Home Now," a film about the impact Bridgeville artist Jack Lewis has had on Delaware. A question-and-answer session with Lewis will be held after the film.
