Attending the 1998 Merit Award reception are Stephen Grimble (left)
treasurer's office, and Jan Daisey, operations and maintenance-Lewes.
"That's okay for Waldo, but we also offer a small cash reward," he quipped.
During a celebration at the Bob Carpenter Club in the Bob Carpenter Sports Convocation Center, where Merit Award winners watched their names scroll across a flashing scoreboard on the football field below, Roselle and Maxine R. Colm, vice president for administration, distributed certificates to the recipients.
"We're gathered to recognize excellence," Roselle said. The University established the Merit Award program for professional and salaried staff members to reward employees who demonstrate initiative and creativity, resulting in savings and improved efficiency and service, he added.
Pointing to the names on the athletic scoreboard, Roselle said, "What we're trying to demonstrate is how very proud we are of your accomplishments."
