A large majority of students would choose UD again
The University of Delaware Longitudinal Study consists of eight sections, covering findings about students, freshman through senior years. Following are some of the highlights:
The majority of the students, as seniors, were satisfied with their UD experience:
- 81 percent said they would choose UD again.
- 85 percent said they were as satisfied or more satisfied with UD during their senior year as compared to previous years.
As incoming freshmen, the students possessed high expectations:
- 96 percent stated they would be satisfied with UD.
- 88 percent stated they would have friends of different cultures.
- 87 percent stated they would maintain a "B" average.
- 82 percent stated they would develop regular study habits.
Throughout all four years (freshman through senior year), respondents said they achieved the greatest growth in:
- exercising personal responsibility,
- functioning independently,
- gaining factual knowledge and
- gaining exposure to new intellectual areas.
UD longitudinal study students reported growth in their academic and career knowledge as well as in learning about themselves. The largest positive changes from freshman to senior year were for:
The section, titled "Attitudes and Experiences," indicates that by the end of the senior year, respondents had high agreement with the following statements:
- My out-of-classroom interactions with faculty have had a positive influence on my personal growth, values and attitudes.
- My nonclassroom interactions with faculty have had a positive influence on my career goal and aspirations.
- Most of the faculty members I had contact with this year are genuinely outstanding or superior teachers.
