Subject: Flexible Benefits Enrollment Period

The University's Flexible Benefits Program, implemented in July 1988, provides an annual opportunity for employees to review and change their benefits. As a participant, you will receive materials from Benefits Services to help you as sess your health-care needs and other benefit options. This year, the enrollment period runs from May 1 through May 15. To make a change in your benefits coverage or to participate in a flexible spending account (FSA), call FLEX BY PHONE at 831-3331 duri ng the enrollment period.

As you know, the Flexible Benefits Program gives you the opportunity to choose the amount of coverage you need and to decide how your benefit dollars will be spent. For full-time employees, the cost for Basic medical, dental, life insurance and disability insurance is covered by UDollars. Because FSAs help pay for other expenses such as day care and certain out-of-pocket health-care expenses, you may wish to consider FSA deductions which are withheld from your paycheck on a before-tax basis.

It is important that you carefully review each of the flexible benefits options before you make a decision about which program is best for you. To do so, you can refer to the Flexible Benefits Book which is found on the Web at: http://www.udel.edu/Benefit s/FLEXBOOK.HTML or you can call Benefits Services for a printed copy (831-2913). I also encourage you to attend the Employee Benefits Fair on May 12 at the Trabant University Center where you will gain additional information about our benefits programs.
