Flamenco show in Mitchell Hall

The fiery and dazzling Carlota Santana Spanish Dance Company will hold a master class and present a public performance on Saturday, May 9, on the campus. The master class begins at noon, and the performance is scheduled for 8 p.m. in Mitchell Hall.

Dinner with a Spanish flare will be available prior to the performance at the Blue & Gold Club.

Started in 1983, the dance company preserves the traditional Flamenco while experimenting to create a unique new vocabulary of Spanish dance and music. The company tours with six to nine dancers and musicians and has performed to sold-out theatre houses around the country. Flamenco dancing brings the essence of cultures that inhabited Spain for centuries by blending Spanish, Judaic, Arabic, Indian, Latino, African and Gypsy in one.

Tickets are $15 for the general public or $30 for the show and the Blue & Gold Club dinner. Tickets for UD faculty and staff cost $10 for the show and $25 for the show and dinner. UD students with ID pay $6 for the show and $21 for the show and dinner.

Tickets are available at all University box offices or by calling 831-2204. Group sales are available.

The tour is made possible, in part, by a grant from the MidAtlantic Arts Foundation, in partnership with the Delaware Division of the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
