The rankings were based on classes with on-line materials, classes with on-line work, student home pages, on-line student newspaper, electronic ride board, campus cybercafe, public computers and students who own computers.
The top 15 institutions in order of ranking include Dartmouth College, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute, University of Illinois at Urbana, Carnegie Mellon University, California Institute of Technology, Indiana University at Bloomington, University of Oregon, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, University of Delaware, Dakota State University, Emerson College, Rhodes College and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
