This year, 3,887 applicants have applied for on-campus housing by the deadline, as compared to 3,368 at last year's deadline (Feb. 28).
Of these, 930 requested apartments, compared to 701 last year; 2,206 requested residence halls, compared to 2,218 last year; and 751 requested unique housing, compared to 449 last year. Late applications and cancellations can cause changes in the figures. Butler said.
"We are pleased that the demand for on-campus housing for upperclass students has risen. With the increased alcohol policy enforcement, there was speculation that there would be fewer applications, but this has not been the case," Butler said.
Another significant fact was that this year only 80 applications were on paper, as compared to 300 last year, according to Butler. Therefore, most students are taking advantage of the convenience of web applications.
