'The Country Wife' opens April 16 in Hartshorn Hall

The University's Professional Theatre Training Program will open William Wycherley's witty restoration comedy, The Country Wife, at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 16.

Additional performances are scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 17, Saturday, April 18, Thursday, April 30, Saturday, May 2, and Thursday, May 7. A matinee also is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 18. All performances take place in Hartshorn Hall.

The Country Wife tells the story of a young rogue named Mr. Horner who competes with middle-aged Mr. Pinchwife for the affections of Pinchwife's young bride. The tale is full of seduction, devotion, cuckolds and lust, and contains a plot filled with comical situations.

Single tickets for the general public are $15 for Friday and Saturday evenings, $14 for weeknights and $12 for matinee and Sunday evening shows. Discounted prices are available for UD students, faculty, staff, senior citizens and members of the UD Academy of Lifelong Learning.
