Community-Oriented Policing

Newark Campus Community police officers include (from left)

Every UD Police officer has been trained to be a community police officer. This means establishing and maintaining cooperative discussions with members of the campus community. Working together, campus safety and security concerns can be resolved quickly and in the best interests of all.

Six officers are specifically designated as campus community police officers. Four are located on the Newark campus-assigned to East Campus, West Campus, Laird Campus, and Morris Library- and two are located on the Wilmington campus. In addition to their traditional duties as trained police officers, these individuals maintain regular office hours so that they can get to know the students, staff, and faculty on a personal basis. They are always accessible for information, assistance, and referrals.
