A behind the scenes look at the exhibition "Nicholas and Alexandra: The Last Imperial Family of Tsarist Russia" will be given by James E. Broughton, exhibition director and president of Broughton Inc., at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, in Clayton Hall.
The free presentation will give an inside look into the American tour of "Nicholas and Alexandra," which will open in Wilmington on Aug. 1 at the First USA Riverfront Arts Center.
Broughton will "walk" the audience through the exhibit, which is designed to depict the historical, social, religious and artistic aspects of the lives of the Romanov dynasty that ruled Russia for 300 years.
One of the largest collections of the imperial family treasures ever to leave Russia, the exhibit will include nearly 700 objects.
Author to speak in Kirkbride Hall
Poet and novelist Marge Piercy will present a free, public program at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 26, in Room 006, Kirkbride Hall.Piercy lives in Wellfleet, Mass. Her novels include Woman on the Edge of Time, Gone to Soldier, He, She and It and, most recently, City of Darkness.
Her poetry collections include The Moon is Always Female, My Mother's Body, Available Light and The Earth Shines Secretly: A Book of Days.
Piercy's poetry fuses the political, domestic and autobiographical spheres with imagery drawn from nature, sensual and dream memories and Jewish mysticism. Her novels explore the choices people make, out of their characters, their time, their class and their social circumstances.
Partly funded by the Delaware Humanities Forum, the talk is sponsored by the Department of English, the Jewish Studies Program and the Honors Program.

UD champs host IHSA horse show
The University of Delaware Equestrian Team, 1997 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) National Champions, will host an IHSA horse show from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, at Carousel Farms, 3700 Limestone Road, Wilmington. Public health is topic of session
Jonathan Mann, dean of the School of Public Health at Allegheny University, will present a free, public talk on "The Status of Public Health Today and Major Issues Concerning It" at 4 p.m., Thursday, March 19, in Room 103 Gore Hall.
From 1990 to July 1997, Mann was a professor of epidemiology and international health at the Harvard School of Public Health. Before that, he was director of the Global Program on AIDS for the World Health Organization (WHO). At Harvard, he worked for human rights in the public health arena, and for WHO, he was founding director of the its global program of AIDS prevention and control. He also worked as the director of Zaire AIDS research program for the Center for Disease Control. He is the author of many publications.
