Nominations sought for E.A. Trabant Award

Nominations are being sought from all members of the University community for the E. Arthur Trabant Institutional Award for Women's Equity, established by the Commission on the Status of Women in recognition of President Emeritus E. Arthur Trabant's support for women's equity at the University of Delaware.

The award is given annually to any individual, department, administrative unit or committee that has contributed to equity for women at the University.

The commission defines "contributions" broadly to encourage as wide a range of nominations as possible, but examples might include developing exemplary programs or curricula, implementing innovative policies and procedures related to women's equity and enhancing existing services to women.

Nominations will be accepted from any member of the University community.

Self-nominations must be accompanied by at least one supporting letter from outside the individual's unit.

Current members of the Commission on the Status of Women and the Commission to Promote Racial and Cultural Diversity and employees in the offices of Women's Affairs and Affirmative Action may not nominate nor be considered for the award.

Preference will be given to individuals and groups that have gone beyond the basic requirements of their job roles in improving conditions for women at the University.

Nomination forms are available from the Office of Women's Affairs, 305 Hullihen Hall. Any pertinent supporting materials should accompany the nominations. The deadline for nominations is April 17.

Selections will be made by a committee appointed by the Commission on the Status of Women. Awards will be announced on April 24 and presented at a ceremony on May 18.
