13 grants support enhanced teaching projects

Thirteen projects aimed at enhancing teaching and learning have received Instructional Improvement Grants for the 1997-98 academic year from the Center for Teaching Effectiveness (CTE). These grants are designed to provide seed funding for faculty instructional projects that significantly enhance aspects of teaching and learning at the departmental and college levels.

All proposals were peer reviewed by CTE faculty advisory committees in both general and technology categories.

The following grants have been awarded in the general category:

The center awarded the following grants for which technology applications are a primary means of achieving instructional goals of the course or courses.

Written Communications in Business-Rebecca Worley, English, $400.

In addition to improvement of instruction grants, the center awarded Travel or Instructional Supplement grants to the following faculty members:

David Edwards, mathematical sciences;
Steven Hastings, food and resource economics;
Robert Hodson, biology;
Fran Mayhew, consumer studies;
Nancy McCagney, marine studies;
James Morrison, consumer studies;
Joseph Noggle, chemistry;
Debra Norris, art conservation;
Alvina Quintana, English;
Dorry Ross, Writing Center;
Daniel Shade, individual and family studies;
Deborah Steinberger, foreign languages and literatures; and
April Veness, geography.
