Cathy Olsen, plant and soil sciences, and Kate Murry, on the Fischer Greenhouse staff, have entered the gardens class, whose theme this year is "Romance in the Gardens."
Entitled "Lovers' Dream: Midnight Magic," their 22' x 22' garden is a Midsummer's Night Dream woodland glade with ferns, moss, evergreens, hosta and shade-loving flowers and tiny fairies peering out from the plants. A veil and dried flowers and a man's walking stick and pouch are reminders of the lovers.
Murry also is entering the pressed flowers class with a watering can decorated with pressed flowers.
Teresa Holton, plant and soil sciences, is entering a rosemary topiary, and Susan Foster, also on the greenhouse staff, is entering a niche garden with water plants.
The Friends of the UD Botanic Gardens also have several entries this year. In previous years, UD entries have been recognized with awards at the show.
