British 'acters' on campus

Performers from A Center for Theatre, Education and Research (ACTER) will be in residence at UD from March 3-8. The troupe will give three public performances of A Midsummer Night's Dream-at 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 3, Friday, March 6, and Saturday, March 7. Performances will be held in Bacchus Theatre of the Perkins Student Center.

ACTER is an international research institute, educational center and theatre company based in London and at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Its traveling program, such as the one at UD, sends five British Shakespearean artists, from such companies as the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre of Great Britain and the BBC Shakespeare Series, onto campuses nation-wide.

The artists devote a large part of their time to lectures, workshops, seminars and informal meetings with students. Actors who will visit UD include David Acton, Henrietta Bess, Peter Forbes, Peter Linford and Biddy Wells.

Tickets for the performances are $15 for the general public, $10 for UD faculty and staff and $7 for UD students. Costs for student groups of 10 or more are $5 each. Tickets are available at box offices at the Bob Carpenter Center and the Trabant University Center or by calling Ticketmaster.
