Anjelika Krylova and Oleg Ovsyannikov, who train at the University of Delaware Ice Skating Science Development Center, won the silver medal in ice dancing Feb. 16 at the Olympics in Nagano, Japan. Fellow Russians, Pasha Grishuk and Yevgeny Platov, who formerly trained at UD, won the gold.
Three other University of Delaware couples took part in the competition-Irina Lobacheva and Ilia Averbukh of Russia, who came in fifth; Galit Chait and Sergey Sakhnovsky of Israel, who placed 14th, and Elena Grushina and Ruslan Goncharov of the Ukraine, who were 15th.
The skaters received enthusiastic support from the University community and the public during the World/Olympic Send-Off Exhibition, held Feb. 1 before a sold-out crowd at the Fred Rust Ice Arena.
