The 14th annual Delaware Women's Conference will be held Saturday, March, 7, in Clayton Hall. This year's guest speaker will be syndicated columnist Ellen Goodman.
Goodman's insight, common sense and verbal flair have attracted a national following since 1976, when her Boston Globe column was first syndicated by the Washington Post Writers Group. Today, her column appears on opinion/editorial pages in more than 440 newpapers across the country.
Goodman's reporting has earned her numerous awards, including the American Society of Newspaper Editors Distinguished Writing Award in 1980. The Leadership Conference on Civil Rights awarded her the Hubert H. Humphrey Civil Rights Award in 1988 for dedication to the cause of equality. In 1993, Goodman received the President's Award from the National Women's Political Caucus at its seventh annual Exceptional Merit Media Award Ceremony.
She was graduated from Radcliffe College, cum laude, in 1963, and spent 1973-74 at Harvard as a Nieman Fellow.
This year's conference theme is "Every Woman Makes a Difference." The all-day conference will offer workshops on a wide range of topics.
