Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) classes will be presented on the campus during the spring semester. Designed to help combat sexual assaults and rapes, this self-defense program is for the average woman who chooses to use the option of physical self-defense. Participants do not have to be in top physical shape to take the course.
The free courses, sponsored by the Department of Public Safety, are scheduled at the following times during February and March:
Advanced R.A.D. classes will be presented from 6-9 p.m., Tuesdays and Wednesdays, April 14, 16, 21, 23 and 28, in the Carpenter Sports Building. Participants must have completed the R.A.D. basic course.
- 6-9 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, Feb. 9, 11, 16, 18 and 23, in Room 006 Kirkbride Building;
- 6-9 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, Feb. 10, 12, 17, 19 and 24, in Room 006 Kirkbride Building;
- 6-9 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, March. 9, 11, 16, 18 and 23, in Room 006 Kirkbride Building;
- 6-9 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 10, 12, 17, 19 and 24, in Room 006 Kirkbride Building; and
- 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturdays, March 14, 21 and 28, in the Carpenter Sports Building lobby.

Storyteller will speak in Warner
Storyteller Alicia Quintano will perform an original monologue from her one-woman show, Love is Hell and Other Stories, at 8 p.m., Monday, Feb. 16, in Warner Residence Hall. Free and open to the public, the monologue is an autobiographical account that focuses on eating disorders and various topics associated with self-esteem.Quintano uses humor to deal with her character's search to find personality through relationships with love, herself and family. Reviewers have called Quintano "funny, warm and universal." She has performed throughout the country in colleges, theatres and clubs.

Game night set for Class of 1998
Members of the Class of 1998 will receive a free ticket to the men's basketball game against Widener University at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 11. The Class of 1998 Night also will feature free T-shirts, pizza and performances by the Slam Dunk Daredevils.Admission is free only to seniors with a UD ID. Brass band in Loudis Hall
The 35-piece Chesapeake Silver Cornet Brass Band is presenting a free concert at 8 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 7, in the Loudis Recital Hall of the Amy E. du Pont Music Building.
With members from Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey, including several from the University community, the all-brass band was formed in 1996 to provide a musical outlet for amateur brass musicians.
Safety training scheduled Feb. 6
University workers wishing to use radioactive materials must first attend radioactive material safety training. This training is provided periodically by the Department of Occupational Health and Safety. The next training session will be held on Feb. 6, from 9 a.m. to noon, in Room 132, General Services Building, 222 South Chapel St.
