Keith Handling, UD head athletics trainer, has been inducted into the Delaware Special Olympics Hall of Fame. In 1995, he received the Delaware Special Olympics Volunteer of the Year award.
He has served as state director and as a member of the Special Olympics board of directors since 1974. He also was director of sports and training, ensuring that athletes received quality training and opportunities for competition.
A plaque honoring Handling will be displayed in Spence Hall at the Delaware Special Olympics office, located next to the Delaware Field House.
A 1970 graduate, Handling is in his 26th season with the Blue Hen athletic training staff and is program director of the University's National Athletic Trainers Association undergraduate athletic training education program, which focuses on training students for careers in sports medicine.
