Employees to be honored for innovation, excellence

The University of Delaware will again offer this year special recognition for outstanding contributions by professional and salaried staff employees, Maxine Colm, vice president for administration, announced today.

Each year, the Professional and Salaried Staff Merit Award programs provide an opportunity to recognize up to 150 individuals on the campus with a one-time cash award, she said.

Under the programs, up to 50 professional employees are eligible for awards of $1,000 each, and up to 100 salaried staff members will receive a $500 award each.

"I hope we see University-wide participation in the nominating process," Colm said, encouraging each University employee to help identify a colleague who has made significant contributions during the past year to UD. "The merit award programs give us the opportunity to offer special recognition," she said.

Recommendations for the awards are due by Feb. 20 to the appropriate officers of administration. Their recommendations must be forwarded by March 13 to Colm. After approval by President David P. Roselle, the honorees will be announced to the campus community.

On April 20, a reception will be held, and the honorees' names will be published in UpDate, Colm said.

Details about the program and the procedures for nominations are provided on page 7 of this issue and also are available on EyeOpeners on the World Wide Web. See http://www.udel.edu/PR/eyeopeners/
