Farther, a play written and directed by Richard Gaw, housing, will be performed as part of the One-Act Play Festival at 8:15 p.m., Friday and Saturday, Jan. 16 and 17, at the Chapel Street Theatre in Newark.
In addition to Gaw's play, two other short works will be presented. During the evening, audience members will be asked to select their favorite play of the festival. The winning entry will be performed at the Delaware State Play Festival in the spring.
The Newark festival is being coordinated by Christine Ward, a psychology graduate student. Tickets are $5 each and will be available at the door.
Skill workshops for professionals
Registration is being accepted for the advanced career development program for University of Delaware professional staff to be presented this spring. The six-part series of workshops is designed for professionals who want to increase their knowledge of the University, enhance skills in their current positions and think strategically about their future aspirations.Understanding the University of Delaware: A Professional Staff Development Series will be led by Audrey Helfman, program director of Leadership Education at UD.
University administrators will be guest speakers at each of the sessions.
This is an offering from the Professional Career Development Program directed by Liane Sorenson, women's affairs, and coordinator of the career development program for professional staff.
The Professional Staff Development Series will include the following training modules:
The series can accommodate up to 14 professional staff members. The first session will be held in the evening on Feb. 4. The remaining sessions are scheduled from noon to 2 p.m. on Fridays, Feb. 13, March 13, April 3 and 24 and May 8.

- Strategic Planning and How Decisions are Made at UD,
- Developing Knowledge About the University Budget Making Process,
- Ways to Develop Careers at the University: Case Studies,

OSHA training scheduled Jan. 9
University workers wishing to use radioactive materials must first attend radioactive material safety training. This training is provided periodically by the Department of Occupational Health and Safety.
