Renovation begins on Memorial Hall

Signaling the start of a year-long renovation of Memorial Hall, fencing has been installed around the building.

The project includes the complete renovation of the structure, originally built in the 1920s, an increase in the floor-to-ceiling heights of the basement areas plus the addition of square footage resulting from new construction in the areas now occupied by the two three-story courtyards.

Upon completion, the building will house all faculty and staff of the Department of English.

For the construction, those members of the Department of English who had been working in Memorial Hall have been moved to renovated facilities in the Maintenance Center and to Graham Hall.

Other members of the department who have been working in other buildings will remain there until the project is completed.

All telephone numbers remain the same.

The $9.5 million renovation project is being supported by University funds and $8 million from the state of Delaware.
