Holiday e-mail

E-mail is integral to everyone's job at the University. It is essential that users prepare their e-mail before they leave campus for the holidays.

If you:

regularly receive a large amount of e-mail,
read your e-mail on the University's central Unix servers and
do not plan to check your e-mail over the holidays temporarily suspend or unsubscribe from any mailing lists to which you are currently subscribed.

Because all Unix inboxes are stored in a shared disk area, inboxes larger than 6M are currently removed from the server; however, the 6M threshold may be changed if circumstances warrant. If you unsubscribe from your mailing lists, you will reduce the chance that your inbox will be removed.
