Director search under way

A search is under way on the campus for a new director of the University Honors Program, replacing Robert F. Brown, who will go on sabbatical in July and then return to the philosophy faculty in July 1999.

The position- open to full-time tenured faculty at the University- includes supervision of the program staff, interaction with deans, chairpersons and academic directors on honors course offerings and coordination with the admissions office on student recruitment, as well as teaching and scholarship.

Kate Conway-Turner, interim associate dean of the College of Arts and Science, is chairing the search committee. Other members are John Bergman, mathematical sciences; James Butkiewicz, economics; Jill Cortright, AS '99, a student in the Honors Program; Lawrence Griffith, admissions; Lesa Griffiths, agricultural sciences; Katherine Kerrane, Honors Program; and Michael Vaughan, RISE/ engineering.
