Golden Blues to perform Friday

The Golden Blues, a student a cappella group, will perform at 8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 12, in the Trabant University Center Theatre.

Tickets, available at the door, are $5 for students and $7 for the general public. The Dartmouth Cords and the Maryland Generics also will perform.

Concert to honor Dr. M.L. King Jr.

The second annual Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Concert will be held at 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 16, at the Cathedral of St. John, 10 Concord Ave., Wilmington.

Featured will be Dawn Padmore, soprano, and assistant organist Matthew Boarmon, plus guest musicians-including pianist Michael Arenson, of the UD music faculty; Norwood Coleman, trumpet; Jack Kidd, bass; and Monica Small, soprano-who will perform music written by African-American composers.

Admission is $7 at the door.

Register soon for 'Saturday Math'

Registration will begin Wednesday, Dec. 17, for the University's popular Saturday Morning Math program, which begins a new six-week series of classes on Saturday, Jan. 3.

Designed as an enrichment activity to help children realize that math can be fun, the program is open to students in grades one through eight. Time will be spent doing hands-on, problem-solving activities and working on computers.

Classes are offered at three times- 8:30 to10 a.m., 10:15 to 11:45 a.m. and noon to 1:30 p.m. Cost is $50.

Enrollment is on a first-paid, first-served basis. Registration will take place from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in Room 105 of Pearson Hall, site of the Saturday math program.

The annual Teaching, Learning and Technology Faculty Winter Institute will take place Jan. 6-27.
