Salzburg deadline Dec. 5, colloquium that afternoon

Proposals are being accepted through Dec. 5 for faculty interested in participating in the 1997 Salzburg Seminar.

The 1998 core program includes sessions ranging from health care to the contemporary novel and from industrial Asia to problems of an aging society.

The program is administered by a faculty committee chaired by G. Arno Loessner, urban affairs and public policy. This year's committee includes the two faculty members who attended in 1997, Sylvia Weyerbrock, food and resource economics, and Beth Haslett, communication.

The seminar offers a fellowship, which covers half the cost of tuition, room and board. Persons wishing to apply for 1998 sessions should include with their proposals-not to exceed two pages, explaining how the seminar would enhance their work at the University-a memo addressed to Loessner from their department chairperson and/or dean, indicating support for their participation and willingness to pay the balance of $2,250 in tuition, room and board, plus the cost of round-trip travel to Salzburg. The deadline for proposals is 4:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 5.

A Salzburg brochure, outlining details of the different sessions and listing former fellows from the University, is in the Reserve Room of the Morris Library.

Salzburg Seminar colloquium set

Leslie Reidel, theatre, will speak about his experience as a fellow in the Salzburg Seminar session, "The Theatre: Entertainment or Social Action?," at noon on Friday, Dec. 5, in Room 102A Smith Hall. Playwright Arthur Miller was among the distinguished faculty at the Salzburg session.

The colloquium will provide an opportunity for faculty interested in the program to meet some of its alumni and learn more about the nature of the seminar.

Sandwiches and beverages will be provided. To reserve a sandwich, contact Bonnie Kime Scott at bscott@udel.edu or leave a message at 831-6230.
