Palaniappa Krishnan, associate professor, bioresources engineering; director, Operations Research Program, College of Engineering, 1997 excellence-in-advising award recipientI am a firm believer that any student can make a significant contribution to society. I focus on helping the individual student to develop his/her self-esteem. I often encourage average, C-grade students to write and present research papers. Over the years, eight of my students have won first place in the annual paper competition of the American Society of Agricultural Engineering's Northeast Agro/Bio Engineering Conference. Working with the students individually takes a lot of time, but I enjoy it."
