Prof. Dentel earns 1997 Philip Morgan Medal

Steven K. Dentel, civil and environmental engineering, has been named the recipient of the 1997 Philip Morgan Medal, granted by the Water Environment Federation at its annual conference in Oct. 19-22 in Chicago.

This award honors Philip Morgan, who served with distinction as a professor of sanitary engineering at the State University of Iowa from 1948 to 1961.

Nominations must demonstrate originality, effort, significance and, most importantly, the verification of an idea. The solution must involve the use of innovative technological methods, be generally applicable and increase plant efficiency.

Dentel received his Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1984 in the field of Environmental Engineering.

The medal recognizes his valuable contributions to the in-plant study and solution of an operational problem.
