Library Associates to sponsor student book collecting contest

A book collecting contest, sponsored by the University of Delaware Library Associates, will be held next spring and is open to all students, who may submit entries for any personal collection of books, developed around a specific author, topic or theme.

The collection must belong to and have been developed by the student and may include such materials as maps or prints, in addition to books.

There are two separate categories- for undergraduate and graduate students. The deadline for entering the contest is April 16. Entry forms are available at the Information Desk, the Office of the Director of Libraries in Room 210 or the literature rack in the Commons of the Morris Library or from branch libraries. Entries also may be requested by e-mail at UDLA@mvs.udel.edu by supplying name and mailing address.

A first prize of $200 and a second prize of $100, provided by the Library Associates and the Delaware Bibliophiles, will be awarded in each category at an award ceremony on May 7.

Winners will be notified April 30, and each award-winning collection will be displayed in the first-floor exhibition cases from May 19-June 15.
