Junior Series returns with movies, music and theatre

The University's popular Junior Series, a performing arts series for children, returns this year with a line up of music, movies and theatre that's sure to please.

The series opens at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14, with a Just for Kids performance in Mitchell Hall by the Chenille Sisters, a wacky, fun-loving trio whose show includes such classics as the "Hokey Pokey" and original children's songs like "The Kitchen Percussion Song" and "Teaching Hippopotami to Fly."

Concertgoers can also take advantage of a special lunch being offered at 12:30, prior to the show, at the University's Blue & Gold Club. Menu selections will include fried chicken, corn chowder, cream chipped beef, mashed potatoes, gingerbread cookies and more.

Other Junior Series offerings include:

Ticket prices for the Chenille Sisters, Babes in Toyland, Freedom Train and The Secret Garden are $10 for the general public, $8 for UD faculty, staff, alumni and senior citizens and $5 for children. Movie prices are $5 for the general public, $4 for UD faculty, staff, alumni and senior citizens and $1 for children.

Blue & Gold Club meals cost $15 for adults, $7 for children 5-11 and are free to children under 5.

Tickets for events or combination tickets for events and meals can be purchased. Tickets are available at all University box offices-located at the Bob Carpenter Center, the Trabant University Center and in Hartshorn Hall. They also are available by phone at 831-2204, or by calling Ticketmaster at 984-2000, where a service charge may apply.

The series is sponsored by the Office of Alumni and University Relations.
