University United planned Nov. 1-2
An event to unite and celebrate the diversity of all UD
students will be held on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 1-2, on
campus.
Friday evening events, which will be held in the Carpenter
Sports Building, include a carnival and fun fair at 6 p.m.; the
University Talent Showcase, featuring UD students, at 7 p.m.; and
the University United Party, featuring various types of music, at
9 p.m.
There will be a drawing for two, free Northwest Airline
tickets to anywhere in the continental U.S. during the evening.
The winner must be present to accept the award, which is
sponsored by University Travel Services and Ambassador Travel.
At noon on Saturday, Nov. 2, the Trabant University Center
will host a sampling of the multicultural foods from the food
showcase later that afternoon. The diversity workshops begin at
12:30 p.m.; the multicultural food showcase is at 2:30 p.m.; a
comedy cabaret is set at 3:30 p.m.; and the Greek Spotlight,
featuring performances by fraternities and sororities, will begin
at 5 p.m.
The event is supported by the Comprehensive Student Fee.
Broadway bus trip scheduled Nov. 23
A bus trip to New York City to see the play Bring In 'Da
Noise, Bring In 'Da Funk is being planned by the Center for Black
Culture for Saturday, Nov. 23. The trip is open to the public.
Winner of four Tony Awards, the production, choreographed by
Savion Glover, has won accolades from the critics and is one of
Broadway's hottest tickets. A reviewer for Gannett Newspapers
wrote that it "makes you want to dance down the street!"
The tentative agenda includes a noon departure from Newark,
with free time for shopping and dinner from 3 to 7:30 p.m.
Curtain time is scheduled for 8 p.m., and the bus will return to
Delaware immediately after the performance.
Tickets for the trip are on sale now and cost $20 for UD
students and $40 for the general public.

Election results on WVUD, 91.3FM
Live coverage of the 1996 election will be presented,
beginning at 8 p.m., on WVUD, 91.3 FM, the Voice of the
University of Delaware.
Hosted by Brian Dubas, news director, live, continuous
reports will be presented throughout the evening. The program
will include updates from the Republican and Democratic
headquarters plus analysis by UD communication faculty members
Juliet Dee and Douglas McLeod.
Dance program in Loudis on Nov. 8
A free, public dance demonstration/lecture by members of the
New York Baroque Dance Company will be presented at 3:30 p.m.,
Friday, Nov. 8, in the Loudis Recital Hall of the Amy E. du Pont
Music Building.
The lecture will be given by choreographer and dancer Alan
Tjaarda Jones, a specialist in 17th- and 18th-century ballet of
France and Spain.
The event is sponsored by the departments of Foreign
Languages and Literatures and Music and the Collegium Musicum.

ALL artworks in Wilmington loop
Works by members of the University's Academy of Lifelong
Learning (ALL) will be featured Friday, Nov. 1, in Wilmington's
popular Art on the Town art loop.
The "ALL Star" display, in the Goodstay Center, 2600
Pennsylvania Ave., includes paintings and sculpture produced by
academy members. Refreshments will be served from 5-8 p.m.
