Prof. Haslett to head women's studies

     Betty J. Haslett, communication, has been named the new
director of the Women's Studies Program. She succeeds Kate Conway-
Turner, who is currently on leave for an American Council on
Education administrative internship.
     Haslett, who received her bachelor's degree from the
University of Minnesota, her master's degree from the University
of Wisconsin and her doctorate from the University of Minnesota,
joined the University faculty in 1971.
     The author of numerous articles and three books, including
The Organizational Women, with coauthors Mae Carter and Florence
Geis in 1993, Haslett is interested in the study of gender issues
in the workplace.
     A consultant for business and government, she has served on
the editorial board of Human Communication Research and reviews
for Management Communication.
