Dr. Demento part of gala; free trip will be awarded

America's zaniest radio personality, Dr. Demento, who helped
make popular such songs as "Fish Heads" and "Pencil Neck Geek,"
will appear at 9 p.m., Friday, Oct. 25, in the Trabant University
Center as part of the facility's week-long opening celebration.
On Saturday, Oct. 26, the center will present a Comedy
Showcase of two of the hottest touring comics, Tony Woods-who
replaced A.J. Jamal-and Rodney Johnson. Both have appeared on the
campus in the past. The evening program will begin at 8 p.m.
The free, public appearances will be held in the
Multipurpose Room of the Trabant University Center.
University Travel Services and Ambassador Travel will award
a free trip as the grand prize of the Trabant University Center's
official grand-opening celebration.
Students, staff and members of the public may enter the
drawing with one chance given for each gala event they attend.
The trip includes an all-expenses-paid flight for two to San
Francisco, with a four-day/three-night stay at a hotel on
Fisherman's Wharf. Free rental car transportation is provided,
and the trip must be taken within a year of the drawing date.
The trip winner will be selected at midnight, Saturday, Oct.
26, in Daugherty Hall at the conclusion of the celebration,
following the 11 p.m. program on UD Ghosts and Graveyard Tales.
Tonight at 8:30 in the Multimpurpose Room, The
Scatologists-featuring Paul Arbogast, Matt Hetzler and P.J.
Gorenz-will perform in place of Gingham Shmuz, which had to
cancel because of a medical emergency. The Scatologists' recent
CD, Shank for Your Life, was named Top CD of Newark last spring.
All activities are sponsored by the Trabant Center's
Activities and Programs Office.
