Guest apartments mark successful initial year

     The University Guest Apartments, located on the top three
floors of Christiana West Tower, are celebrating a successful
first year.
     According to executive director David Butler, conference
services, the guest apartments have met a long-term need for
convenient and comfortable accommodations for parents, alumni,
conference and department guests.
     In the first year, more than 3,500 guest have been housed,
with conference groups accounting for approximately 60 percent of
the overnight guests. More than 50 departmental units have used
the facility for visiting professors, lecturers, prospective
employees and other guests.
     There are 39 one- and two-bedroom suites for a total of 54
bedrooms, each with two queen-size beds. Living rooms are
furnished with a queen-size sofa bed, television with access to
52 cable channels, local telephone service and Ethernet
capability. Coffee makers, refrigerators and microwave ovens add
to the convenience of the suites, and some units also have stove-
tops and ovens for longer stays.
     According to the staff, response from guests has been
excellent. More than 90 percent said their stay exceeded their
expectations; 93 percent rated the apartment conditions as
excellent; 90 percent said the housekeeping was first rate; and
95 percent rated the apartments as an excellent value for price.
