ADD network schedules meetings

A Network for Young Adults with Attention Deficit Disorder
(ADD) will hold meetings at 7 p.m., Fridays, Oct. 25 and Nov. 22,
in Room 115 Purnell Hall. Sign in begins at 7 p.m., with a
discussion and interaction period from 7:30-9 p.m., followed by
pizza.
In its third year, the network is an opportunity for young
adults with ADD to share experiences and concerns with their
contemporaries and to talk to a guest mentor, an adult with ADD
who is successful in his or her chosen field. The organizers
emphasize that the meeting is not therapy, a lecture or advice.
Moderator is Jerry McCrone, an adult with ADD who has
organized a similar group for adults in Bryn Mawr, Pa.
In addition, a separate meeting will be held at the same
time and place for those who live or work with young adults with
ADD. The two groups will meet in different locations after the
sign-in period.
On Oct. 25, David Goldstein, a psychologist, will speak on
"A World of Possibilities: Helping Young Adults Find Their
Place," and on Nov. 22, Dale Bassett-Powell, outreach coordinator
of the Woodlyne School in Wayne, Pa., will speak on "Finding
Help: The Road to Advocacy.... Through a Maze of Professionals."
The project is partially supported by the National Science
Foundation, in cooperation with the College of Arts and Science,
and is organized by the UD Science, Engineering and Math Project.
