'Love Letters' by PTTP duo

Love Letters, the story of Melissa and Andy, two childhood
companions who carry out a 40-year relationship through the
written page, will be presented by the University of Delaware's
Professional Theatre Training Program Oct. 24-27.
The show stars the husband-and-wife acting team of Susan
Sweeney and William Leach, both seen earlier in PTTP's production
of The Faith Healer.
Sweeney has been voice, speech and dialect coach for PTTP
for the past 14 years. She is a professional actress and singer
who has performed in plays, musicals, revues and nightclub acts
around the country and on three tours for the USO.
She recently returned from Germany where she played Mother
Courage in Heinz-Uwe Haus' International Classical Theatre/PTTP
production staged at an abandoned U.S. cruise missile base.
Leach appeared on Broadway in The Trial of Lee Harvey Oswald
and more recently off-Broadway in The Crucible at the Roundabout
Theatre. For the past eight years, he has performed with the
Great Lakes Theatre Festival in such roles as Scrooge in A
Christmas Carol, Peachum in Three Penny Opera and Krogstad in A
Doll's House. Last spring, he appeared as Prospero in the Indiana
Repertory Theatre's production of The Tempest.
In A.R. Gurney's Love Letters, the couple will perform the
dramatic readings that allow the audience to eavesdrop on two
individuals as they express their yearnings in writing.
Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct.
24, Friday, Oct. 25, and Saturday, Oct. 26. Matinee performances
are scheduled at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, and Sunday,
Oct. 27.
