V.P. Al Gore speaks in BCC today
U.S. Vice President Al Gore will speak at a rally in the Bob
Carpenter Center today at 5:30 p.m. Tickets have been distributed
at UD box offices during the week, and students should check to
see if any are still available. Doors will open at 4 p.m. and
close promptly at 5 p.m. Early arrival is recommended.
To assist students attending the rally, bus service will be
provided from the Smith Hall overpass to the Bob Carpenter
Center, continuously from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Look for the yellow
school buses, in which all students must be seated. No standing
is permitted. They also will transport students back to the Smith
Hall area after the event.
The rally comes on the day after the vice presidential
debate between Gore and Jack Kemp, Republican nominee and former
secretary of housing and urban development.
The vice president will arrive and depart from the New
Castle County Airport. Traffic will be affected by the vice
presidential motorcade along I-95 and Delaware 896 from
approximately 3:30-7:30 p.m.
