UD professor named to Project Kaleidoscope staff
Kathryn C. Scantlebury, chemistry and biochemistry, has been
chosen as a member of the Project Kaleidoscope Faculty for the
21st Century.
Project Kaleidoscope is an informal alliance of individuals,
institutions and organizations dedicated to strengthening the
nationwide undergraduate science and mathematics community.
Members serve as catalysts for science, mathematics, engineering
and technology education reform at both the local and national
level.
Scantlebury will join approximately 350 faculty and mentors
at the national assembly in Kansas City, Mo., later this month.
The participants will examine mathematics and science reform
through the theme of "Exploration and Discovery," and Bruce
Alberts, president of the National Academy of Sciences, will be
the featured speaker.
Scantlebury was nominated by Mary Richards, arts and
science, who praised the efforts now under way at the UD to
attract and retain more students in science and mathematics.
Richards also noted Scantlebury's leadership in bringing
together science teachers, industry representatives and UD
faculty to design partnerships that will strengthen the teaching
and learning of science at the secondary and undergraduate
level.
