Travel applications due
The Commission on the Status of Women is sponsoring a
Special Travel Award Program for 1996-97. The awards are designed
to encourage faculty and professionals to present scholarly
papers and participate in panel discussions and other activities
dealing with women's issues and to facilitate the career
development of women faculty and professionals.
The program is operated as a matching fund to assist
academic departments and other administrative units in supporting
travel for women and for men participating in professional
activities involving women's issues.
The application deadline for the fall semester is Nov. 1.
The deadline for spring semester submission is April 1. A
committee will review the requests and announce fall semester
awards by Nov. 15 and spring semester awards by April 15.
Special Travel Award funds must be matched or exceeded by
the unit or by other external funding. The maximum award is $200.
Awards are made for participation in a conference, not
simply for attendance. Travel must take place by June 30, 1997.
Graduate students are not eligible for these awards, but may
apply for similar support through the Student Travel Award
Program.
