Research grants

     Grants, primarily in the arts, humanities and social
sciences, are available through the General University Research
(GUR) program, and full-time faculty and professional staff are
encouraged to apply.
     The maximum budget for a GUR project is $6,000.
     Faculty stipends under these grants are limited to $5,000 or
one-ninth of the academic year salary, whichever is less.

     The deadline for submitting applications to department
chairpersons is Tuesday, Oct. 15.
     Grants will be announced at the end of January.

UDARF meeting

     
     The UD Association of Retired Faculty luncheon/discussion
meetings for the fall semester will be held from 11:45 a.m.-1:45
p.m., Tuesdays, Oct. 15 and 29, Nov. 12 and 26 and Dec. 10, in
Room 207 of the Trabant University Center.

Craft show
     
     The University Women's Club will hold its 20th annual craft
show from 10 a.m.-9 p.m., Friday, Nov. 15, and from 10 a.m.-7
p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16, in Multipurpose Room C of the Trabant
University Center.
     Handmade items-including flower arrangements, country decor,
jewelry, toys, clothing, baskets, holiday decorations, ornaments,
wreaths and Blue Hen items-made by crafters from the tri-state
area will be sold.
     All proceeds will go to the University of Delaware Women's
Club scholarship fund for returning adult students.

Depression help

     National Depression Screening Day is Thursday, Oct. 10. On
that day, free, confidential screenings for clinical depression
are available at agencies located throughout the state of
Delaware.
