Self-help groups offer assistance to employees

     Taking care of yourself requires an active role on your
part.  This semester, the Faculty/Staff Assistance Program is
offering several self-help groups designed to provide education,
support and encouragement by sharing information and experiences
among individuals involved or interested in a common issue.
     The self-help groups, all held in the Faculty/Staff
Assistance Program Office at 87 East Main St., are

        Separated/Divorced Persons- Deals with issues of
   transition, adjustments with coping and realistic vs.
   idealistic expectations of the separation and divorce
   process.  Cecily Sawyer Harmon, coordinator of the
   Faculty/Staff Assistance Program, will lead this seven-
   session group. Meetings are from noon-1 p.m., Mondays, Oct.
   7,  14 and 28, Nov. 4 and 25 and Dec. 9 and 16.

        Relapse Prevention-Focuses on issues of recovery from
   substance abuse.  Darlene I. Sharp, Faculty/Staff Assistance
   Program will facilitate this group, which meets from 11:30
   a.m.- 1 p.m., every Monday, beginnining Oct. 7.

        Menopause Support-Deals with issues of premenopause and
   postmenopause as well as alternative menopause resources.
   Sawyer Harmon will facilitate this group, which will meet
   once a month from 12 noon-1 p.m., Thursdays, Oct. 3, Nov. 7
   and Dec. 5.

        Caregivers Support Group- Addresses issues about caring
   for an aging and/or terminally ill family member, friend or
   other loved one.  Sharp will facilitate this discussion from
   noon-1 p.m., on Fridays, Oct. 18, Nov. 15, and Dec. 20.

        Grief and Loss Support Group- Deals with the life
   process through understanding and accepting loss caused by
   the death of a loved one.  Linda Wills, Delaware Hospice,
   will lead this six-session group from 3-4:30 p.m., Wednesdays
   from Oct. 16-Nov. 20.
