NetDay96 volunteers needed

On Saturday, Oct. 26-as part of NetDay96 Delaware-thousands
of volunteers, including parents, students, teachers and
computing and network professionals from Delaware's business and
educational communities, will make a difference by installing
wiring in Delaware's public and private schools.
Public high schools and any other schools that are already
wired will hold open houses and Internet awareness events on
NetDay 96. If schools are not ready to install wiring, they will
have an open house to discuss their technology plans.
Sponsors will buy wiring kits and contribute their equipment
and skilled installers.
NetDay96 is a one-day, national event. The goal is to wire
more than 20,000 schools by mobilizing more than 200,000
volunteers throughout the country.
Volunteers and organizers are needed for all areas and for
all schools. Interested individuals are welcome to help
regardless of their level of technical networking expertise in
computers and computer configurations. Training will be provided.
During NetDay, school personnel will need help configuring
their computers. Participation is an excellent field exercise for
students working in the areas of computer networking and
electrical engineering.
After NetDay, there will be opportunities for those
interested in training teachers in both Internet and computer
use and in providing support to schools related to their
computers and software.
Individuals interested in volunteering their skills or
finding out more about the one-day event should call 993-0690.
