Featured in the magazine's September issue, the ranking of 150 schools is based on an analysis of cost and academic quality at more than 1,100 colleges.
The magazine used 16 measures of educational quality, including entrance exam results, faculty resources and deployment, library resources, instructional and student services budgets, four-, five- and six-year graduation rates and default ratios on graduates' student loans. These data were then compared to tuition and fees to arrive at a value rating.
The 47-page college guide calls the top 100 schools "the elite values in college education today."
