Kate Pohlig appointed to NCAA rules committee

Kate Pohlig, assistant director of athletics for more than eight years, has been appointed to serve a three-year term on the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Women's Basketball Rules Committee.

Representing all three NCAA divisions and eight NCAA districts, the committee includes 12 voting members and a secretary-rules editor.

The committee determines if rules pertaining to NCAA women's basketball need to be changed based on surveys and also is responsible for establishing experimental rules and how they will be implemented. The committee works closely with the NCAA Men's Basketball Rules Committee in an effort to limit differences between the two sports.

Pohlig, who has bachelor's and master's degrees from West Chester University, served as chairperson of the America East Women's Basketball Committee in 1996-97.

She was tournament director of the America East Men's Basketball Tournament, hosted by UD in 1996 and 1997.
