              Temptations will open Summer Arts Festival
     
     If you've ever been tempted to go see the Temptations
or ever marveled at the Marvelettes, the University's 10th
annual Summer Arts Festival, scheduled July 9-12 in Lewes
is for you. In addition to some of the finest sounds Motown
ever produced, the four-day festival also will offer a
popular production from American Family Theatre, a
contemporary Christian concert and the annual Cape
Concert-presented this year by a portion of the Delaware
Symphony with special guest artists the Kingston Trio.
     The Temptations, with special guests the Marvelettes,
will open the festival on Wednesday, July 9, with a special
"Motown Remembered" show. Show time is 7:30 p.m. Advance
tickets are $10 for adults, $6 for children ages 7-17 and
free for children under 7. All tickets cost $2 more if
purchased on the day of the show.
     The festival continues on Thursday, July 10, with the
American Family Theatre's production of Sleeping Beauty.
The production is free to children age 17 and under. Adult
tickets are $5 in advance and $7 the day of the show.
     On Friday, July 11, contemporary Christian performers
Jonathan Pierce and Patty Cabrera will offer a "Celebration
of Life" concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. Advance tickets are
$8 for adults, $6 for children ages 7-17 and free to
children under 7. Groups of 10 or more can purchase advance
tickets for $1 off. Individual tickets are $2 more when
purchased on the day of the show.
     The festival concludes on Saturday, July 12, with the
Delaware Symphony's annual Cape Concert, but with a new
twist. This year's concert features symphony musicians with
the Kingston Trio.
     The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Advance tickets are
$12 for adults, $6 for children ages 7-17 and free to
children under 7. Tickets are $2 higher if purchased on the
day of the show. Before the symphony performance, the Royal
Palm Steel Band will provide picnic time entertainment
starting at 5:30 p.m. As usual, the symphony concert will
conclude with a fireworks spectacular.
     All events are held under the stars on the grounds of
the Hugh R. Sharp Campus in Lewes. Audience members are
encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Picnic
dinners are encouraged, and a wide assortment of foods will
be available. Children must be seated with parents when the
concerts begin.

at the Higher Education Building in Georgetown; at all UD
box offices in Newark; and at the Lewes Chamber of
Commerce, 120 Kings Highway.
