Purchasing Card Pilot Program a success
Implementation of the University's Purchasing Card
Pilot Program has been a great success, with a total of
seven units and 415 cardholders now participating in the
pilot, according to George Waleuff, program administrator
and assistant director of purchasing.
The six-month pilot phase ends July 1, and the program
will be opened up campuswide. The Purchasing Card Program is
anticipated to completely replace the current POWC (purchase
order with check) program by the end of this calendar year.
The new Purchasing Cards (VISA charge cards) will give
selected employees the ability to charge purchases with a
value of $5,000 or less, eliminating the need for POWCs and
lower dollar requisitions. This major change will give
departments greater convenience, control and flexibility.
Employees who have been selected, by their units, to
participate in the program must attend a training session to
be eligible to receive a card.
General training sessions will be held in the Pearson
Hall auditorium every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to
noon throughout the month of July, except for July 3. No pre-
registration is required.
