                      Retired faculty are honored
     
     At the recent meeting of the University's Board of
Trustees, the new home of the Department of History and the
Department of Anthropology was named John Andrew Munroe
Hall, in recognition of Delaware's distinguished historian
and author of many books, including The University of
Delaware: A History. Munroe served as  member of the
University faculty from 1942-82, including 17 years as
chairperson of the history department. The facility will
incorporate three buildings at 46-56 West Delaware Ave.,
with a new building attached behind them.
     The Board also named the training room in the Delaware
Field House the C. Roy Rylander Training Room, in
recognition of Rylander's service to the University,
including 40 years as head coach of the men's tennis team,
the longest tenure of any head coach in UD history, and 35
years as head athletic trainer.
