Arrival Survival seeks volunteers
When new students and their parents arrive at UD on New
Student Check-In Day, volunteers from the Arrival Survival
Team will be there to welcome them and give a helping hand
with moving in.
Being greeted and assisted by friendly team members
helps get new students off to a good start at the
University. It's an important service that parents and
students truly appreciate, and the volunteers enjoy the day
as well, said Chuck Shermeyer, residence life, who
coordinates the team.
More than 400 people are needed for the team, and
faculty, professional and salaried staff, students and
alumni are encouraged to sign up for four or eight hour
shifts.
In addition to luggage luggers, a limited number of
lobby greeters are needed. Volunteers can pick their shifts,
give their preferences for locations on campus and will be
given Arrival Survival Team T-shirts. Shermeyer said that he
will try to accommodate requests by volunteers.
For further information or to sign up, call Shermeyer
at 831-2417 or send e-mail to Chuck.Shermeyer@mvs.udel.edu.
The deadline is July 25.
