Students schedule afternoon theatre
     An afternoon of French and Italian theatre will be
presented by students enrolled in upper-level French and
Italian classes.
     The free, public performance will begin at 3:30 p.m.,
Friday, May 16, in the Bacchus Theatre.
     The playbill includes performances of Le Mariage Forc
by Moliere and Gil Sposi, an original play in the commedia
dell'arte tradition.
     The performance is sponsored by the Department of
Foreign Languages and Literatures.

Master's students to display artwork
     Sixteen master of fine arts degree candidates are
presenting their thesis exhibitions in the University
Gallery and in the Department of Art Gallery in Recitation
Hall now through May 30.
     The artists include Steve Erickson and Quentin Olson,
both ceramics; Meret Scheidegger, Robert McAteer, Joseph
Lee, Jana Rehak and Sean McDevitt, all photography; William
Letvenko and James Martinez, both printmaking; David
Tischler, Brendt Adams and Christopher Pekarik, all
painting; Pilar Perez, printmaking/installation art; Carolos
Yepes, sculpture; and Ron Tremblay, sculpture/installation
art.
     At noon on Tuesday, May 20, Martinez and Perez will
talk in the University Gallery about their work. Visitors
are encouraged to bring lunch and meet the artists.

Baseball book signing on May 24
     Kevin Kerrane, English, will read from and sign copies
of his latest book, Batting CleanupBill Conlin, as part of
the Eyes on the Diamond in the Diamond State literary
celebration of baseball, to be held at 8 p.m., Saturday, May
24, at Books Inc., in Greenville, Del.
     Batting CleanupBill Conlin is a collection of selected
writings by the Phiadelphia Daily News sports reporter and
edited by Kerrane.
     Also at the event, Richard Gaw, housing, will read an
excerpt from Don DeLillo's novella Pafko at the Wall, a
fictional account of the 1951 playoff game between the
Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants.
