                          Start your engines!
     
     The UD chapter of the Society of Automotive Engineers
is entering a car in this month's Formula  SAE 97 race car
competition. More than a dozen students are involved in the
project.
     Shown with their vehicle are (standing, from left) Andy
Parre, Mike Lentz and Brian Davison, (front row) Keith
Heckert, Stefan Vapaa, Mark Scott and David Ameen. At the
wheel is Jeremy Freeman. Not pictured are Suhas Malghan, Sam
Lee, Jason Firko, Scott Suhmann, Greg Martin and Ed Dennie.
     The vehicle, sporting a custom UD logo designed by
Heckert, media services, will race in the Pontiac Silver
Dome. The competition, from May 15-18, involves both
presentation events centering on the vehicle's design
efforts and cost, plus individual performance tests,
involving racing and endurance.
     More than 120 schools, representing 50 states and
Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico, will be represented.
