New Arc Academy to begin July 21
The New Arc Academy, a program for talented,
outstanding students in fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh
grades, will be held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Mondays through
Thursdays, July 21-Aug. 1 in the Willard Hall Education
Building.
Directed by Thomas Pledgie, Delaware Department of
Public Instruction, the institute will be staffed by
teachers and professionals in the fields of science,
mathematics and technology.
Special activities will include visits to the College
of Marine Studies in Lewes, Bombay Hook National Wildlife
Refuge and other sites.
The tuition is $380 and covers instruction, use of
microcomputers, field experiences and a final program
presentation. Parents must arrange transportation. Students
may purchase lunch on campus.
The space is limited, and qualified applicants will be
accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
